Trezor currently sells three models: Trezor Safe 3 ($59), Trezor Safe 5 ($129), and Trezor Safe 7 ($249). All three ship with a Secure Element chip and support thousands of coins and tokens through Trezor Suite, per Trezor’s own product pages.
Safe 3 keeps a small 0.96 inch monochrome OLED screen and a two-button interface, the setup Trezor’s own comparison FAQ describes as built for managing coins and tokens.
Safe 5 upgrades to a 1.54 inch touchscreen, which Trezor markets as easier for checking full addresses and amounts before you confirm.
Safe 7 adds a chip Trezor names TROPIC01, its own label for this model’s Secure Element, plus Bluetooth connectivity and Qi2 wireless charging drawing on a LiFePO4 battery Trezor describes as built for the long term.
Its own page title pairs that chip name directly with the words “Secure Element.”

Where the Model One and Model T fit in
Both the original Trezor Model One and the Trezor Model T are marked discontinued on trezor.io. Trezor frames it as a handoff, not a shutdown: the Model One’s “spirit lives on” in Safe 3, and the Model T’s in Safe 5.
The Model T’s own FAQ still describes native support for 14 assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin, plus thousands more through Trezor Suite. The Model One’s page still calls it “the original crypto hardware wallet,” the device the whole Safe line traces back to.
Owners of either older model keep full use of their device. Trezor is only steering new buyers toward Safe 3 and Safe 5, the direct successors it names on each discontinued product page.
Trezor’s pages for the Model One and Model T never confirm a Secure Element chip either way, which is why the table above marks that column “Not stated.”
PIN, passphrase, and open-source firmware
You enter your PIN directly on the Trezor, not your keyboard, which blocks keyloggers since there is nothing on your computer to record.
A passphrase adds another layer on top of that PIN, an optional extra word added on top of your recovery seed phrase, functioning as a 25th word. Add one and you generate a completely separate wallet from the same seed.
Forget the exact passphrase and there is no way back. Trezor keeps no record of it, so a lost or mistyped passphrase opens an empty wallet instead of your real one.
Trezor publishes its firmware and hardware designs as open source, a trust argument it states openly, letting outside developers inspect the code instead of taking Trezor’s word for it.
